Another Comedian Survives An Accident
Fagbemi Olufemi popularly known as Omobaba has every reason to thank God right now. The comedian survived an accident which left his car burnt.
According to him, he was in company of four friends and on the way to the City People Awards ceremony where he was to perform.
‘We were at G.R.A trying to link Maryland when the driver noticed an unusual event with the battery light. Immediately, he pulled over and we alighted but in less than two minutes, the car was on fire. You need to go there and see how many fire extinguishers we exhausted‘ he explained.
12 Year Old Girl Raped To Death
I saw this picture of a 12 year old girl who was allegedly raped to death by suspected ritualists/ gang members on my Facebook wall today.
I always feel hurt ... deeply hurt when I hear of stories like this.

Bomb Blasts Rock Bayero University Kano
The ancient city of Kano was today thrown into confusion as multiple bomb blasts and gun shots occurred at the sports complex, of the old campus of Bayero University, Kano. Christian worshippers who were gathered for worship are believed to have been the target of the attack. The exact number of people that died as a result of the attack are unknown but it is believed that over 10 people including 2 professors lost their lives.

Ghanaian Actor Majid Michael Insults Nigerian Journalists...."Let Them Write Until They Die"
This year's Africa Movie Academy Awards may have come and gone but one incidence that is still being talked about is the way Ghanaian Actor Majid Michael insulted Nigerian journalists at the press conference.
Word has it that when Majid took the microphone, people thought he wanted to defend American actor Morris Chesnut who was accused of making some derogatory comments about Eko Hotel. They instead got the sock of their lives when he insulted Nigerian journalists. This were his words;
“ They go about writing fake stories, let them continue to write until they die.”
The journalists that were present immediately demanded for an apology from the actor , but the organisers of AMAA promptly intervened.
Police Declare Ex Governor Bukola Saraki Wanted
According to Vanguard.....
Special Fraud Unit of the police, SFU, yesterday, declared former Kwara State governor, Senator Bukola Saraki, wanted following the refusal of a court to grant his request for restraining order.
Also wanted by the SFU is his wife, Toyin, over alleged N4 billion loan fraud.

The SFU has a warrant for Saraki arrest from a High Court in Lagos because the alleged offence of N21 billion loan fraud against him was committed in Lagos. Commissioner of police Tunde Ogunshakin of the SFU confirmed the story.
Meanwhile, Saraki, last nite, said he was ready to appear before the police to answer the allegations against Saraki’s lawyer, Lawal Rabana, SAN, said that since the police were hell bent in declaring Saraki wanted, he would, on his own, appear before them.
According to him, Saraki had gone to court hoping that the police would respect the court having submitted to the jurisdiction.
”Now that the police have made it clear that they do not have respect for the judiciary, Dr. Saraki will appear before the court,” he said.
Rabana said that Saraki was not on the run and had no cause to run as a distinguished person.
He however did not specify the day Saraki will appear before the police.
Man, Wife And 2yr Old Child Roasted To Death In Midnight Fire
Never in the wildest imagination could Peter Opara had envisaged the tragedy that befell him and members of his family last Sunday.
The father of one, who occupied a one-room apartment at 9 Ogundade Street, Ejigbo area of Lagos, returned earlier that day from church with his family.
After taking their evening meal of boiled rice and stew, the family, as gathered, settled to watch the television, when, all of a sudden, there was power failure.
Mr Opara was said to have gone to put on their generator placed close to their room. Time was 11 p.m. The entire famiy then slept off, hoping to switch off the generator by midnight. Soon thereafter, the generator exploded, setting the house on fire.
While other neighbors, most of whom were jolted from sleep, scampered in different directions for safety, the fire raged , spreading to other apartments. Just then, one of

them shouted, “What about Mama Opara?” They reportedly looked round but did not see any member of the Opara family.
As if responding to the question, shouts for help were heard from the Opara apartment. But no one could go for help as thick smoke had covered the veranda. An attempt by a rescuer proved abortive as he was almost chocked.
The shouts for help, as gathered, continued but, at a point, they became faint and then stopped outright.
The fire reportedly raged till the following day without fire servicemen coming to the family’s rescue. The neighbours reportedly battled hard to put out the fire, to no avail.
Policemen from Ejigbo division visited the scene the next day, where the charred remains of Peter Opara, his wife, Ebere, and their two-year-old baby were evacuated to the Isolo General Hospital mortuary.
When Sunday Vanguard visited the scene, properties of the deceased family littered the house.
Although the police said they were investigating the cause of the fire, one of the tenants, who did not want his name in print, said, “The fire was caused by their power generating set which was close to their room .
That night, all I heard was an explosion, the cause of which no one could tell. When one of us ran out to see what the problem was, he saw it was fire. And you know how it is with petrol. Immediately the whole place was engulfed . I quickly rushed in, carried two of my children who were asleep and rushed out, calling my wife to wake up.
“When I got outside, I saw some of our neighbors. You see these properties, they were brought out by some of us who managed to go in . Some people even joined us to salvage some of the properties. It is just unfortunate that Peter and his family are gone. We did not know they were trapped inside because, you know, at that point, it was every man for himself and God for all.”

Kidnappers Kill 16 Year-Old Daughter of Ex-Anambra Lawmaker In The Presence Of Her Mother
I wonder when we would stop hearing stories like these.
IT was a terrible sight at the popular Borromew Hospital roundabout in Onitsha when a five –man suspected kidnap gang shot and killed Chisom, a 16- year old daughter of the former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Anthony Ezechi Nwoye while attempting to kidnap his wife, Mrs. Vero Nwoye, a Pharmacist. Chief Nwoye represented Idemili North in the immediate past House of Assembly.
Mrs. Nwoye and her daughter, Chisom, a Senior Secondary, SS11, student of Mercy Girls Secondary School, Umuoji, left her Pharmacy shop located at No 6 Obosi street, Nkpor and were driving home in her Mercedes Benz 190 with registration number BR 439 LSD when the suspected kidnappers blocked their car at the All Hallows Seminary junction beside Zik’s home in Onitsha and pulled her out of her car and dragged her into their own.

Honourable Nwoye, who narrated the incident to Saturday Vanguard said: “My wife, seeing the condition of her daughter, refused to enter their car as she fell down and sobbed uncontrollably thereby attracting the attention of many people to the scene. Angered by what my wife did, they also shot her on the leg and after about 15 minutes of struggle with the kidnappers, they left her and drove away in their car.”
According to him, the kidnappers were armed with AK47 rifles, adding that people watched while the operation went on.
He said that her daughter was rushed to a private hospital where she was confirmed dead, adding that he later made a report to the Inland Town Police Station in Onitsha before the police allowed him to carry the body which he deposited at the Borromew Hospital mortuary in Onitsha.
The former lawmaker said it was the second time kidnappers attempted to abduct his wife, recalling that on December 27 last year, the hoodlums trailed her as she left her shop and at the same spot, tried to kidnap her, but she jumped out of their vehicle and ran away.
Police public relations officer, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka however told Saturday Vanguard that the incident had not been formally reported to his office.

MBGN 2012: Keeping It In The Family....... Two Set Of Sisters Battle It Out + Helen Prest Ajayi's Daughter Is Competing
Miieeennn!! This year's MBGN has got alot of people talking. From the fact that most of the contestants are Ibo/ from the eastern part of the country to the observation that this year's edition is all about "keeping it in the family".
The first observation I made is the fact that former beauty queen Helen Prest Ajayi's daughter is representing Delta State. This observation was made by a reader of this blog yesterday.
