Building Collapses In Abuja

Tragedy struck this morning in Gwarimpa, Abuja this morning when a building collapsed. The Public Relations Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yusha Shuaib, confirmed the death of one person in the incident.

Model Looses Arm In Plane Propeller Accident

Model and  fashion blogger Lauren Scruggs,who had worked in the wardrobe department of Gossip Girl, lost her left hand and suffered severe facial injuries after she accidentally walked into a spinning airplane propeller in Texas on Saturday.
"After exiting a propeller plane, an accident occurred where she walked into the front of the prop," the post reads. "Struck on the left side of her body, Lauren's hand, head, and shoulder area were hit."

'It appears that the pilot left the engine running at idle while she exited the plane to switch places with another passenger. That's one of the aspects of the investigation,' a source told RadarOnline.
The pilot has not yet been identified but he is thought to have been a friend of Lauren's and recently purchased the plane.

Boko Haram Kills Groom On Wedding Day

Unknown gunmen stormed the venue of the wedding ceremony of 30-year-old Maduga Borikmen in  Maiduguri on Saturday  and shot him dead.

It was gathered that stray bullets also hit one person and injured two others on the occasion.
According to an eye witness, who pleaded anonymity, three assailants arrived at the scene in a golf car.
The gunmen, suspected to be members of the Boko Haram, alighted from the car with AK47 riffles. They went straight to the bridegroom, opened fire on him and also injured three other guests and fled,”

Mohammed said the late Burusknen Muduga Buruksnen was a former councillor in the city.

Soundcity's Banji Osunseemi Is Dead

Music station Sound City has reportedly lost one of it's staff.... Banji Osunseemi .

Reports have it that the talented post production editor collapsed in his bathroom, but he sadly gave up the ghost before he could be rushed to the hospital .

He died last week Wednesday on the 23rd November 2011 at around 6pm.

May his soul Rest in Peace.

Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon died Sunday of "unsurvivable injuries" sustained during a multi-car wreck at the Las Vegas Indy 300. He was 33.

The remaining drivers, many of whom were visibly emotional after emerging from a meeting with IndyCar officials, did a five-lap salute in Wheldon's honor.

"Amazing Grace" played as the drivers slowly wound their way around the track.

More than a dozen vehicles were involved in Sunday's fiery wreck. Video of the accident showed cars spinning out of control, bursting into flames, and shooting smoke and debris into the air.

Wheldon was in line to win $5 million if he had captured the checkered flag at Sunday's race.

"I lost one of my best friends, one of my greatest teammates," driver Tony Kanaan told reporters.

"I know this is a dangerous sport. I know we're

After his second Indy 500 victory in May, Wheldon talked with CNN's "American Morning" about the intensity of the race track. His first win was in 2005.

The rest of the race -- the marquee event of the IZOD IndyCar World Championships -- was canceled.
