Designer of Note....Pictures From Tiffany Amber's “Fearless Luxury” – A/W 2011/12 Ad Campaign

Tiffany Amber is out with a new collection , aptly called 'Fearless Luxury'. The collection is a combination of various bold elements........from bright colours , to flowing chiffon gowns (which is a fixture in most of her collections) to the beautiful wide leg chiffon trousers and  delicate silk velvet fabric, this collection is simply luxury at it's best.

According to the designer Folake Folarin-Coker, “This is my favourite collection so far. It embodies a multitude of women; classic yet youthful, sexy yet demure, vibrant yet sophisticated.”

Designer of Note....Deenola

My 'Designer of Note' for this month is London based fashion label 'Deenola'. Caught up with them recently and they shared their thoughts on the Nigerian/ African fashion industry, their favorite fashion label amongst other issues. Enjoy!!

Who are the people behind the label 'Deenola'?

It was  founded by very good friends Deena and Olafemi. It was a way of expressing both our sense of fashion.

Where do you get inspiration from for your clothes?

Our label has different influences the African, the French,and the Brit all in versatility. 

What do you think about the Nigerian fashion Industry?

We think the fashion industry in Nigeria is very exciting.they are building brands, not just making clothes and thats what makes it so powerful......plus you have Nollywood to back it up although, we think a massive film awards ceremony would really help  Africa showcase the trends.

Which Designer Do You have love for?

We really admire Jewel by lisa.It is so fresh

Deola Sagoe Presents 'Ori Oke' : 2011 Summer Collection

    Nigerian designer Deola Sagoe is out with the lookbook for her new collection  'Ori Oke'. The designs  were inspired by Japaneese culture while still being influenced by her nigerian roots. The clothes in this collection were made from fabrics like Aso- Oke and Adire. 

“Ori Oke…derived from the Japanese word “Shibori” and the Yoruba word “Aso-Oke.” Both words describe methods of creating the traditional cloth of the respective cultures.

This is a collection inspired by the similarities Deola Sagoe sees within the Japanese and the Yoruba style of dress.” — Deola Sagoe.
