'Buried alive' mum: I used diamond ring to get free

Terrified Michelina Lewandowska, 27, was gagged and bound with tape, but she used the three-stone ring to cut through the binding allowing her to escape the shallow grave.

Boyfriend Marcin Kasprzak, 25,and his pal Patryk Borys, 18, had allegedly attacked her with a Taser and put her in a 55cm-high cardboard box before driving her to remote woodland — because Kasprzak was "bored" with her.

Leeds Crown Court heard Michelina was placed in the boot of a car by the two men and driven to a wooded area where the box was buried in a shallow grave with a 40kg branch placed on top.

Michelina told the court through an interpreter: "I cut the tape from my legs with this ring. I put the ring back on my finger then I put my whole hand through the opening."

The jury heard Michelina – who prayed to God as she struggled to release herself – started to "tear the box apart" until soil fell on top of her.

Once she managed to claw herself out of the box, Michelina staggered to a nearby road before alerting a passing motorist.

Kasprzak, with whom Michelina has a three-year-old son, is on trial with fellow Pole Patryk Borys, 18, both of Huddersfield, West Yorks, for attempted murder.

Michelina told how she was grabbed by her partner and forced to the floor earlier this year.

The sensation of the Taser being applied to her neck felt like she was being "kicked", she told the court.

She said: "I was trying to push him away. He was using this Taser. He managed to turn me over on to my side, on to my right side.

"He knelt down, he pressed my ribs with his knee and continued to use the Taser."

Michelina told Leeds Crown Court that her boyfriend said "everything will be alright" before Borys helped tape up her legs, wrists and mouth.

She described how her partner said he had "hated me for four years" before mentioning a "secret house" and how she was not going to see him or her son again.

Michelina, who was later placed in a cardboard box, said: "He said to me to lie down as he needed to close it and stick the box up."

Prosecutor Jonathan Sharp told the court yesterday Kasprzak was "boredÁ" of his girlfriend and "he decided to get rid of her".

Both men deny attempted murder. The trial continues.
