Saudi Arabia's Heir To The Throne, Prince Nayef Is Dead




Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud has died in Geneva, Switzerland. According to Saudi state television Al Ekhbariyah,he died on Saturday .

Nayef, who has been interior minister since 1975, was the heir to Saudi King Abdullah and was appointed crown prince in October after the death of his elder brother and predecessor in the role, Crown Prince Sultan.

The 79-year-old Prince Nayef, who was recently abroad for medical treatment, had "died outside the kingdom," said Al Ekhbariyah Television, quoting a statement from the royal court.

He had been in Switzerland since May for medical tests.

With Prince Nayef's death, Saudi Arabia's present ruler King Abdullah has now outlived two of his sucessors.
