Popular Benin Chief and Entrepreneur Chief Gabriel Igbinedion has allegedly fallen out of favour with the Oba of Benin.

The Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa, has warned friends of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin, to desist from seeking the palace's forgiveness on his behalf.
Igbinedion was ostracised from the palace in 2008 for giving beads to some visiting dignitaries and engaging in what was regarded as “anti-palace activities”.
He was stopped from participating in all palace activities.
The monarch, in a statement by Secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor, said the Esama has
been advised on what to do to seek the palace's forgiveness.
The statement reads: “The Oba of Benin has directed that this statement be issued to advise the individuals who claim to be friends of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion that he was told long ago that he knows what to do to seek forgiveness and not to send individuals to plead for him.
“We would like to call on all the friends of the Esama to advise him to go and do what he has been advised to do.”
